L’Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation

This spring L’Oreal has come up with a brand new foundation, called Total Cover. So far the Infallible range has been a great and affordable makeup solution for many people who can’t find the right foundation. Needless to say, I went out in order to put it to the test.

This foundation comes in a plastic tube, unlike other foundations from the same range which come in a glass bottle with a pump. This makes it easy for travel but it does not make it look luxurious. The first thing that I noticed at the beauty counter was the colour range L’Oreal has come up with for this foundation. Compared to the previous Infallible foundations, Total Cover comes in 7 different shades. The lightest one being 09 Sand and the darkest 33 Cappuccino. Another problem with the shades is their undertone. Half of them have a pink undertone whereas the other half have a slight orange one. For example, 09 Sand and 10 Porcelain are pretty much the same colour, with the main difference being their undertone. Sand is more on the orange side, compared to Porcelain, which is more pinkish. Which is good as it can be used by a more people but the colours are rather limited.

Apart from the colour range, their consistency was a very pleasant surprise. The almost mousse-like consistency made me believe that the foundation formula would sit heavy on the skin as other mousse foundations do. But once you start to blend it, it feels like you are blending a liquid foundation. It is not heavy in any way and therefore can be used with powder.

The coverage is also pretty good. I would say if you want to build it you can but bare in mind that this is a full coverage foundation and it can become heavy if layer it over.

As for people who have only or combination skin, it does tend to go oily during the day but nothing drastic. If you have some loose powder or blotting paper then this would not be an issue.

Overall, this is a good full coverage foundation. The price is £9.99 and can be found in most drugstores such as Boots and Superdrug.

Would I recommend?

Yes, only if you want a full coverage foundation, which isn’t heavy on the skin.

Final thoughts:

If I had to give any stars to this foundation it would be 3 out of 5. Unfortunately, this foundation doesn’t bring anything new to your already existing collection. It definitely did a good job at concealing and staying in place but it did not give me that wow effect. The colour range can also be broader. And although it is easy to travel with the plastic tube, as it is priced the same as the glass bottles with pumps, I would have preferred it to come with a pump.
